Professional Bio
Born and raised in Miami Beach, Florida, Dr. Jennifer Lopez was raised as a “Florida baby " surrounded by a blue and gold macaw and seven Rottweilers. Dr. Lopez began her veterinary career as a technician at the University of Florida in the Dermatology department. She helped in both clinical and research departments of dermatology, the ICU and their blood donor ward. She worked closely with the dermatologist in charge of clinical trials with their in-house high IgE research beagles, where she was a part of developing the canine model for atopic dermatitis. Her passion grew for clinical research and skin diseases, resulting in being published in several journals such as Veterinary Dermatology and American Veterinary Journal of Research.
She then attended St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada, the West Indies where she received her DVM degree. Dr. Lopez stayed active in community programs to educate the local Grenadians on pet care, parasite control and preventive medicine. After graduating from veterinary school, she began general practice in Miami, while continuing her education and receiving her MBA in Multi- Sector Health Management. She then took a position as a medical director for a 24-hour, 12 doctor general practice and emergency hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Her varied veterinary interests include dermatology, surgery and emergency care. She loves to interact with pet parents and their pets which is why she continues to work on the weekends in clinical practice. During the week, she works for a veterinary diagnostic laboratory company as a consulting veterinarian. Dr. Lopez fur babies include two French bulldogs, Roxy Razzle Dazzle and King Pickle Dickle, and a miniature red poodle, affectionately named Poodle.
