Professional Bio
Douglas G. Aspros, DVM is the Chief Veterinary Officer for Veterinary Practice Partners, where the evolution of the co-ownership model of practice ownership serves to ensure outstanding patient care and enhance the value of veterinary ownership to the benefit of the profession and the public.
Under his leadership, VPP has built innovative professional development programs for their doctors, helping veterinarians to reach their full potential as clinicians, practice owners and professional leaders.
A Cornell graduate, an experienced clinician and practice owner, he has worked on behalf of the profession in widely diverse leadership roles in education, nutrition, licensure, credentialing and risk management. He served two terms on the NYSVMS board and was elected president of the Society in 1997. A leader in the global profession, he served as President of the AVMA in 2012-13.
A determined voice for diversity in the profession and an advocate for women in leadership roles in veterinary medicine, including practice ownership, he was a founding board member of WVLDI.
He currently chairs the NYS Board for Veterinary Medicine and in the Past-president of the Veterinary Innovation Council.
