Vomiting and diarrhea is a common problem in cats in everyday practice and the differential diagnosis are broad.  This lecture will cover both gastrointestinal and extra-gastrointestinal causes of vomiting and diarrhea in cats. This lecture will also discuss diagnostic approach to cats with vomiting and/or diarrhea and treatment of different diseases, including the selection of an appropriate diets and supplements. 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn about different causes of vomiting and diarrhea in cats.
  2. Understand which diagnostic tests to choose for cats that present with vomiting and diarrhea.
  3. Be more comfortable with treatment of cats that present with vomiting and/or diarrhea.

Dr. Petra Černá MRCVS AFHEA AdvCertFB is a Small Animal Internal Medicine Resident at Colorado State University. She graduated from the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Brno, Czech Republic in 2018. She completed a Small Animal Rotating Internship at Vets Now Referral Hospital, Glasgow, UK and Small Animal Medicine Internship at The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh, UK. Dr. Černá obtained an ISFM Advanced Certificate in Feline Behavior with Distinction in 2018 and has particular interest in feline medicine and is currently doing a Ph.D. degree at Colorado State University in Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP).
