Managing the Atopic Dog: Clinical Insights for Every Practitioner

This program will provide veterinary practitioners with an updated, evidence-based overview of the pathophysiology of canine atopic dermatitis (cAD), highlighting the complex immunologic and barrier dysfunction mechanisms underlying the disease. Review of broad treatment strategies—ranging from allergen avoidance, topical therapies (not discussed in detail during this session) to systemic immunomodulation. Treatment goals will be discussed in the context of acute symptom relief, long-term disease control, and improvement in patient well-being. Special focus will be placed on Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKi), including an in-depth discussion of Zenrelia. Comparative insights into mechanism of action, clinical efficacy, safety, and patient selection will be presented to help veterinarians make informed decisions in daily practice. By the conclusion of this session, attendees will be equipped with practical knowledge to optimize outcomes for dogs with atopic dermatitis through tailored, mechanism-driven treatment plans
