For More Information:
Dr. Jessica Scillieri Smith was born and raised in Southern California. She attended the University of Vermont as an Animal Science major and participated in the UVM CREAM program where she discovered her love of dairy farming and cows, continuing this interest through pursuing research in calf nutrition and working on several area dairy farmers. She attended Tufts University for veterinary school and after graduation, she moved to Canton, NY as a mixed animal vet at Canton Animal Clinic. She then continued to work to support the dairy industry by managing the Canton office of Cornell University’s Quality Milk Production Services where she worked on milk quality and mastitis research and dairy outreach. She has been with the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets since 2017 where she enjoys working in a variety of areas but has a real passion for emergency management and helping local municipalities develop animal components to their emergency plans. She covers Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Franklin and Clinton Counties. She currently resides on a dairy farm just outside of Canton with her husband and daughter.
