This course serves as a review of Leptospirosis in the dog. It will discuss the agent of disease, the prevalence, the geography, and the transmission of Leptospirosis. Within this, risk factors of Leptospirosis will be addressed for species and environment. Clinical presentation of the disease in canines, as well as testing, and treatment. Using AAHA guidelines, canine vaccination recommendation for Leptospirosis is outlined along with other risk mitigating factors.

Dr. Stockwell-Goering is a highly accomplished veterinary professional with a strong academic and practical background. She holds an MBA at Western Governors University and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from NC State University (May 2020). She also graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Animal Science and a Chemistry minor from Berry College in 2016.
In her professional career, Dr. Stockwell-Goering served as a Senior Professional Services Veterinarian at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health, where she provide technical support and education to veterinary professionals. She has also contributed as a board member for Veterinary Chaplaincy Services, advising on end-of-life care and creating educational materials. Additionally, she has experience as a small animal veterinarian, having worked at Animal Wellness Center and Pantops VET Hospital, where she delivered high-quality medical care, mentored staff, and helped expand client bases.
