The interest in and demand for veterinary acupuncture has increased over the past 20 years. Acupuncture is now practiced at multiple veterinary teaching hospitals and numerous veterinary clinics in the US and abroad. This lecture will provide a brief history of acupuncture, cover the multiple ways that acupuncture can be performed and when to utilize them (e.g., electro-acupuncture, aqua-acupuncture, laser acupuncture, etc.) and discuss the clinical applications and contraindications of acupuncture.
